Halloween 2009

The fund raising party was originally scheduled for Halloween night 31st October but due to us having to be in Athens for 6 weeks the party was moved back a week to Saturday 7th November.  The party was hosted at Villa Aliki on behalf of the Fun(d) Raising group.  The house was decorated during the morning of the party with the kind help from some of the partygoers.  We had a mass of Halloween goodies such as rubber bats and spiders, wall hangings, skeletons, etc, which Jan and Jeff Moon had brought over from England for the event, but were unfortunately unable to attend.

Dawn Kiriannakis bought a 24kg pumpkin and with her daughter Michaela hollowed it out and made a Halloween face.  We put night lights inside the pumpkin and located it on our top apothiki to greet the guests as they arrived for the party.  Follow this link to see a compilation of the house decorations including Dawn's brilliant shrunken heads made of carved and baked apples.

We had about 30 people arrive for the evening and almost all arrived dressed for a Halloween party including Barbara and Jan who had nothing to dress up in so came as Muggles!!  This is some members of the Fun(d) Raising Group in their costumes.  Everyone who attended made a fantastic effort to dress up for the evening and we have a selection of some of the best ghosts and ghoulies of the evening.  How many people do you recognise?  There were 2 prizes for the best dressed spooks which went to Tony Larcomb as Uncle Fester (he even shaved off his beard and hair for the role!!) and to Michaela Kiriannakis for her Bride of Frankenstein outfit.

There was a 10 euro entrance fee which included wine, beer, soft drinks and food.  Bert provided a barrel of "Bert's Bitter and Twisted" Brew and the special Halloween menu is shown below.  We have a couple of pictures of the "Nibbly Bits" and "Just Desserts" to wet your appetitite!!
