Insurance for Villa Aliki

One concern about buying property and living in Greece is the ever present threat of earthquakes and the consequential damage associated with any seismic activity.  This is a real threat on Alonissos due to the earthquake of 1965 which devastated the Old Town.

There are very few companies that provide this sort of cover at a reasonable price and this year we have insured our property with Intasure who provided a better quotation than our existing insurers Andrew Copeland International Ltd with whom we had an Europlan policy for many years.

Our existing Andrew Copeland policy covered earthquake, subsidence, landslip and heave and additionally included £3,000,000 of free public liability insurance cover for an annual premium for 2009/2010 of £298.58, based on rebuilding costs of £100,000 for the property and replacement as new contents cover of £5,000.

The new Intasure policy covers the same risks with £5,000,000 of free public liability insurance cover, rebuilding costs of up to £1,000,000 for the property and accidental damage cover on £20,000 of contents for a premium of £273.75 per annum.
